Launching this summer 2013, project Death Over Dinner is definitely one to watch. Designers, engineers, and thought leaders have come together to create an interactive “dinner table” where anyone can engage in an insightful and uplifting conversation about the end of life.
After spending years facilitating teen and young adult groups at Portland’s Dougy Center, a national center for grieving children and families http://www.dougy.org, I witnessed first hand the value of circling together to engage thoughtfully and artistically in the inevitable. Whether you’re a child who can barely articulate the profundity of endings or an elder who wisely smiles at the ordinariness of it all, bringing these dialogues together could birth healing, insight and ultimately a deep understanding of our interconnectedness.
Their site is still in development but there are some great links already to press articles, partnerships and their indigogo crowdfunding campaign.
I’m very much looking forward to this meal.
